Window graphics
The shop window is the one advertising surface your customers walk past anyway. It has two jobs happening on the same square metres: it should say something — name, trade, opening hours — and at the same time control how much of the interior is on view. For the second, frosted film is the usual answer, because it takes the view without darkening the room.
We design, produce and apply window graphics across Mecklenburg-Vorpommern: from a narrow line on the entrance door to a fully treated frontage, and from a single logo decal to continuous privacy screening.
Options and variants
Graphics: logo, opening hours, messages
-
Logo and company name – Usually at eye level on the door or the glass, at a size that reads from walking distance.
-
Opening hours – Small, neatly set, where people look for them: on the door.
-
Text and messages – Services, promotions, or one short line saying what happens inside.
-
Decorative treatment – Patterns, shapes and decorative glass film that give the window a character of its own.
Frosted film and privacy screening
-
Frosted window film – The look of etched glass. It takes the view through but lets most of the light in — the standard answer for offices, practices and meeting rooms, where blinds would make the room too dark. With a logo or pattern cut out of the surface where wanted.
-
Privacy film – Opaque where the interior should not be on view, without darkening the room.
-
One-way mirror film – Mirrored from outside, largely transparent from inside; the effect depends on the light on both sides.
-
Speciality films – For applications no standard film covers.
The two combine: a frosted band at seated height, clear above it, with logo and opening hours on the door.
Planning and design
Before any design comes the question of what should stay visible. A shop window with a display wants the view through, an office wants the opposite, and often both apply at different heights of the same pane. We work out which direction people come from, where the sun sits, and which part of the glass stays clear at all once shelving or a display stands behind it.
Then measurements are taken: the glass area, frames, glazing bars and handles all decide where a graphic can sit undisturbed. Photographs with rough dimensions are enough for the enquiry; on suitable projects we measure up on site before production and look at the working conditions.
The design follows your existing identity — typeface, colours and logo are carried over from your corporate design, so the glass matches the rest. Where none of that exists yet, we design it.
Production
Single-colour lettering and logos are cut from vinyl and transferred piece by piece; multi-colour artwork and images are digitally printed. For privacy screening and the frosted look we use films made for the purpose, among them ORACAL.
Which film fits also depends on which side it goes: not every film is made for the outside, and not every one gives its intended look applied on the inside. That decision is taken before production, because it affects the mirroring and how the colours read.
Installation
Application is inside or outside depending on the film and the use. Applying inside protects the film from weather and damage; outside is needed where the look has to read undistorted from the street or the pane is not accessible from within.
The glass is cleaned before the film goes on; large areas are applied wet so they stay free of bubbles. On frontages made of several panes we make sure lines run at one height across frames and glazing bars — that is where an untidy job shows first.
Typical applications
-
Shops – Name and logo on the glass, the display left clear; promotional areas changed by season.
-
Restaurants and cafés – Opening hours and offer on the door, often combined with frosted areas beside seating right at the window.
-
Offices – Frosted film as privacy screening for meeting rooms and ground-floor desks, with the logo at the entrance.
-
Practices – Discretion in the waiting area alongside clear signage outside; frosted film at head height is the standard case here.
-
Salons and studios – Screening at head height, a clear view above it, with the name and services on the glass.
Why OSTSEE Werbeagentur
It starts with a conversation about the location, the budget and what the sign actually has to do. That becomes a design you see before anything goes into production. We build to that design — and we fit it ourselves, rather than handing it to someone who never saw it.
Because all four steps happen in house, there is no point where responsibility changes hands. If something needs adjusting, you ring one number.
Frequently asked questions
Can frosted film be used as privacy screening?
Yes, that is its most common purpose. It takes the view through but still lets light into the room — which is why it is used in offices, practices and meeting rooms, where blinds or curtains would make the space too dark. A logo or pattern can be cut out of the surface where wanted.
Can only part of the pane be filmed?
Yes, and usually that is exactly the right answer. A frosted band at seated or head height is the common case, with the upper area left clear. Individual panes of a frontage can also be treated separately.
Can logo and opening hours be combined?
Yes. Both are normally planned together so sizes and spacing suit each other — the logo as the eye-catcher at eye level, the opening hours smaller on the door.
Is the film applied inside or outside?
That depends on the film and the use. Applying inside protects it from weather and damage; outside is needed where the look has to read undistorted from the street or the pane cannot be reached from within. We decide that before production, because it affects the design.
Can existing film be removed and replaced?
Yes, existing lettering and film can be removed and replaced with a new design, depending on its condition and the surface underneath. We check the existing film and the surface first — with old, hardened film the work involved is greater than with recent film.
Can you match our corporate design?
Yes. We take the typeface, colours and logo from your existing guidelines. A vector file of the logo works best (PDF, SVG, EPS or AI). If there are no guidelines yet, we develop them along with the window.
Will you measure up on site?
Yes, on suitable projects. Photographs of the glass with rough dimensions are enough for the enquiry; before production we take the exact measurements and look at the working conditions, so the film fits and does not have to be trimmed on the glass.
What do window graphics cost?
That depends on the area, the type of film, cut or printed, the number of panes, the design work and the working conditions. With photographs and rough dimensions we can price it properly.
